It is hard to defend Catholicism without mentioning Christ, but we have a master in the artistic world named J.R.R. Tolkien which created an entire world without ever once mentioning God, for example. I am one of thousands of people who need there to be a God. For me, there needs to be a moral law. If this is all there is, why do the right thing? Why choose the good over the evil? In this life, doing evil usually gets you further along. If this is all I have to look forward to, then do whatever it takes to get the most out of people and life.

ALL churches experienced loses in the 60s and 70s, not just the Catholic Church. Did Baptists and Lutherans and Methodists experience loss because of Vatican II? Of course not. It's cultural. We have 2 Latin Masses in our city and are very poorly attended, about 15 people at most. My church is packed every Sunday.

Returning to the Vernacular was greatly opposed over several centuries. In 1660 Joseph de Voisin published a translation in French of the Roman Missal. I may be wrong but I feel 90% sure that there is no other prayer in which we offer the divinity of Jesus to the Eternal Father. For example St Gertrude offered the most precious blood to the Eternal Father. Jesus offered his body and blood, but his Divinity is one with the Father and eternal.

You could potentially receive a plenary indulgence every day saying the rosary that you can apply to poor souls in purgatory. There is no plenary indulgence for saying the divine mercy chaplet specifically. There is a partial indulgence for praying for 15 minutes according to Enchiridion.
